“Opening Doors: Zion House Foundation’s Mission to Educate Abandoned Children”

Every child deserves a chance to learn, grow, and belong. At Zion House Foundation, we are committed to making that possible—especially for abandoned children who often face isolation and limited opportunities.

At Zion House Foundation, we prioritize tutorship. Especially for those who have been selected from the streets to the training center. The education department ensures a proper follow up with all their lessons.

Meet Michael, a resilient 10-year-old who lived on the streets of Yaoundé. Without consistent caregivers or access to school, he slept under cardboard shelters by day and scavenged by night. His story is one of countless untold journeys—until Zion House Foundation stepped in.

Abandoned children frequently lack stable homes, nutrition, and guidance. They fall behind academically, miss out on social connections, and face exclusion. As a result, their potential remains trapped—and far too many lose hope before their futures begin.

Since 2017, Zion House Foundation has worked to bridge these gaps through:

  • Personalized Tutoring & Book Clubs for academic support, literacy, and critical thinking development.
  • Art, Play Therapy & Trauma Healing to help children express themselves, process emotions, and reclaim their joy
  • WASH & Life Skills Training, equipping children with practical knowledge for health, hygiene, and social integration

After a successful completion of the lessons (basics in reading and writing) the beneficiaries/learners are enrolled into formal education system through scholarships.

Take Michael—with tutoring and mentorship, he learned to read fluently and discovered a love for storytelling. Through our Book Club, he gained confidence. Today, he dreams of becoming a teacher to help children like him. His transformation embodies our broader impact.
